Testing

Swindon Silicon Systems Limited has two production test facilities, one for low volume production and a second for high volume production, and a fully equipped device evaluation and characterisation laboratory.

SSSL's array of ATE Test Equipment includes:

  • 16 Teradyne A300 series mixed signal testers.
  • 9 Aetrium QFN handlers - two with cold capability
  • 2 Aetrium pick and place handlers - both with cold capability
  • 3 Aetrium SSOP handlers

  • The Automotive market is SSSL's largest operating arena and as such we have to be able to provide the correct level of screeing in accordance with AEC - Q100.
Below is a list of the AEC-Q100 requirements and how SSSL manages the operation.

AEC - Q100-001 Wire Bond Shear Test Out Source
AEC - Q100-002 HBM ESD Test Out Source
AEC - Q100-003 MM ESD Test Out Source
AEC - Q100-004 IC Latch Up SSSL
AEC - Q100-005 Non Volatile Memory SSSL
AEC - Q100-006 Electro Thermal GL Test SSSL
AEC - Q100-007 Fault Simulation + Test Grading SSSL
    AEC - Q100-008 ELFR SSSL
AEC - Q100-009 Electrical Distribution Assessment SSSL
AEC - Q100-010 Solder Ball Shear Test Out Source
AEC - Q100-011 CDM ESD Out Source

SSSL has capacity for both burn in and cold temperature testing.

Our Burn in capacity includes the use of 3 ovens, which are mainly used for life test, and our cold temperature testing includes our handlers as above plus 3 thermostreams.

    Test Philosophy

The SSSL test philosophy is purely dependant upon yield and volume and is on a case by case basis depending upon what makes commercial sense for both the customer and SSSL.

High volume high yielding parts are assembled without probe and lower yielding parts are either sample probed or fully probed.

All Production devices are 100% final tested.

SSSL conducts Hot/cold batch testing on first production quantities and thereafter ambient testing only is prefered for cost reasons but is wholly dependent upon our customer's requirements.
